Ferritin Rapid Flow Test – Iron Content – Pack of 25

The Ferritin Rapid Flow Test is a single-use capillary assay designed for use with the PolarisDX Igloo Pro device. From a small finger-prick blood sample, it provides a quantitative ferritin value in minutes, giving you a clear indication of iron stores during the appointment.

What the Ferritin Test Measures

  • Iron stores: Ferritin reflects how much iron is stored in the body.
  • Risk of iron deficiency: Low levels are often associated with iron deficiency and iron deficiency anaemia.
  • Possible iron overload: Raised ferritin can be seen in iron overload and some inflammatory or liver conditions.
  • Objective baseline: Provides a numerical result that can be tracked over time and shared with other healthcare professionals.

Benefits of Ferritin Testing for Patients

  • Better understanding of symptoms: Helps explore causes of tiredness, reduced exercise tolerance, hair thinning, brittle nails, or pale skin.
  • Supports oral health assessment: Iron deficiency can be linked with glossitis, mouth ulcers, and angular cheilitis.
  • Convenient finger-prick test: Allows patients to get an iron status check without a separate lab visit.
  • Clear, visual result: The Igloo Pro provides a digital ferritin value, aiding explanation and shared decision-making.

Patients with very low or very high ferritin, or with significant symptoms, should be encouraged to see their GP for full blood tests and medical assessment.

When Ferritin Testing May Be Considered

  • Persistent fatigue or low energy: When lifestyle factors alone do not explain how the patient feels.
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding: Women with heavy periods are at increased risk of iron deficiency.
  • Restricted diets: Patients following vegetarian, vegan, or very low-calorie diets.
  • Frequent blood donors or past anaemia: Those with a history of low iron or iron supplementation.
  • Oral signs suggestive of deficiency: Sore tongue, recurrent mouth ulcers, or angular cheilitis noted during dental examination.

Benefits for Your Clinic or Wellness Service

  • Broader health screening: Add iron status checks alongside dental, aesthetic, or wellness services.
  • New revenue opportunity: Offer ferritin testing with follow-up reviews and targeted supplement or nutrition advice where appropriate.
  • On-site results in minutes: Discuss findings and next steps while the patient is still in the chair.
  • Integrated digital records: Results are stored on the Igloo Pro and can be shared with patients or their GP.

Each box contains 25 single-use Ferritin Rapid Flow tests, ready for use with the PolarisDX Igloo Pro. This test is intended as a screening and information tool. It does not replace full blood testing or diagnosis by a GP, haematologist, or other medical specialist.
