D-Dimer Rapid Flow Test – Pack of 25

The D-Dimer Rapid Flow Test is a single-use capillary assay designed for use with the PolarisDX Igloo Pro device. Using a small finger-prick blood sample, it provides a quantitative D-dimer value in minutes. This gives you rapid insight into possible abnormal clot formation and breakdown in the body.

What the D-Dimer Test Measures

  • Fibrin breakdown products: D-dimer is released when a blood clot forms and then breaks down.
  • Possible thrombotic activity: Raised levels can be seen in conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
  • Background clotting risk: Helps you identify patients who may need urgent medical review for suspected clotting disorders.
  • Objective numerical value: Provides a result that can be shared with GPs, urgent care, or emergency services.

Benefits of D-Dimer Testing for Patients

  • Faster triage: A rapid result supports decisions about seeking urgent assessment for suspected clots.
  • Better understanding of symptoms: Helps frame discussions about calf pain, leg swelling, chest pain, or shortness of breath.
  • Convenient finger-prick sample: Avoids the need for immediate venous blood sampling in your setting.
  • Improved communication with clinicians: A clear D-dimer value can support referral and reduce delays in care.

Any patient with chest pain, shortness of breath, sudden leg swelling, or collapse should be advised to seek urgent medical attention, regardless of the test result.

When D-Dimer Testing May Be Considered

  • Recent onset leg symptoms: Calf pain, redness, or swelling that raises concern for DVT.
  • Breathlessness or chest discomfort: When there is concern about possible PE and you need more information to support escalation.
  • High-risk individuals: Patients with recent surgery, immobility, oestrogen therapy, active cancer, or previous thrombosis.
  • Unwell patients in your chair: When a patient becomes acutely unwell during a dental or wellness visit and clotting is part of the differential.

Benefits for Your Clinic or Wellness Service

  • Enhanced patient safety: Adds rapid, objective data when deciding whether to escalate care.
  • Clear documentation: Results are stored on the Igloo Pro device and can be downloaded or shared as needed.
  • Stronger collaboration with medical teams: Supports referrals to GPs, urgent care, or emergency departments with a documented test result.
  • Added value to your service: Shows patients that you consider wider health risks alongside their presenting concern.

Each box contains 25 single-use D-Dimer Rapid Flow tests, ready for use with the PolarisDX Igloo Pro. This test is intended as a screening and decision-support tool. It does not replace hospital-based investigations or formal diagnosis by a GP, haematologist, or emergency physician.
